Ever wanted to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes? (or pants, or skirt, or…..)

It’s time for another installment of Traction’s series on saving money, living simply and getting ahead!

We’ve got a Stuff Swap and Potluck on Wednesday the 9th — we’ll be trading goods and eating good food… the ultimate form of recycling. Not just clothes either! Check your email for the details.
So what treasures are hiding in your closet or attic? Perhaps that vintage lemon juicer is just what some Tractivist has been searching for. And maybe there’s a Tractivist out there with the long lost Chili Peppers album your friend “borrowed” from you so long ago…..

In the comments, let us know what stuff you have to swap and what items you’ve been pining for. Then, be sure to come to the Stuff Swap and Potluck next Wednesday to make the score!

Hey — how did it go?!

  2. Julie says:

    you say mixmaster.

    I say mizmaster.

    tomayto.

    tomahto.

  3. Julie says:

    I don’t know what a mizmaster is … but I think I want one!

We also have a computer monitor (a BIG one)

  4. Lanya says:

Okay, I just helped Kristen and PJ pack up their house, and they’re contributing some nice stuff: crockpot, mixmaster, women’s clothes (M), women’s shoes (8.5).

Let’s hear from some of the men who are coming — what are you bringing?

  5. Lanya says:

Kelly, I’ve got at least one picture frame — not super big though. I’ll bring women’s clothing — mostly size 4-6 bottoms, and small tops, but some bigger things. Shoes size 6.5 mostly. Books, a garden stone-making kit, some very cute stainless steel daisy shower curtain rings. Some shampoo and conditioner hand-me-downs that I don’t use. I can bring some padded envelopes if anyone needs any. (I’m accumulating them faster than I’m using them.) CDs. Some DVDs and movies on VHS.

I’m looking for some spare queen sheets, esp. fitted sheets but a matched set would be nice. I’d love a dustbuster. And if anyone has a pair of old-school K-swiss tennis shoes, size 6.5, you’d make me a happy woman.

Hey, let’s all bring our tupperware/rubbermaid/whatever mismatched lids and containers and see if we can make any matches.

i’m thinking about bringing a computer monitor…it’s pretty small, but it works if you don’t have one!
a baking dish, maps, and picture frames will be included in my treasure pile.

i’m looking for large picture frames 8×10 and up, a small coffee table or other small tables and assorted flower pots.

i look forward to sharing with you!

  7. Elizababy says:

I need some baby gates! The bigger the better!!

  8. Julie says:

I’ll be bringing a baby bouncy seat & other ‘baby stuff,’ some men’s clothing, & some other odds & ends …

I have a BIG L-shaped desk (fiber board type – bleck) but it’s in perfect shape. Anyone is welcome to it, but I won’t be lugging it anywhere, you’ll have to come to me!

I’m looking for some smallish book shelves & wicker furniture …

  9. Celeste Richie says:

I have a bunch of women’s clothing to swap, plus some kitchen items.

I’d really like a dresser or chest of drawers…but perhaps that hoping for too much…

I also really need a rug for my bedroom….

  10. Lara says:

Minutes before I saw your email, I read another version of the old slogan. It’s “refuse, reduce, reuse, repair and recycle”. Food for thought.

  11. Lanya says:

I’ve got a super fancy electric carving knife! I’ll need to check some references though — bring ID…
