It’s almost November, and the “Big Dance,” your local Durham election, is right around the corner.
The big day is Tuesday, November 3rd (T minus 18 days) and if, like me, you’re wondering who to vote for, we can definitely help.
WHAT: Speed CandiDating: Election Happy Hour
WHEN: Thur., Oct. 29, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Bull McCabe’s in Durham
RSVP: candidating@getTract….org
We know already that we have one thing in common, our love for the Bull City, so we hope that you will join us as we hope to make a better, more progressive Durham. Our happy hour is a fun and informal way to connect with your city’s future leadership and other Tractivists over food, fellowship, and drinks.
This election is the game of the season. Your ballot is your tournament bracket, and you pick your winning team — a combination of four players, one from each of the four races. Except here, you actually decide who wins. Here, you have some say about the future direction of Durham. The real heat is on.
Didn’t vote in the primary election? Okay. Don’t know who your Durham City Council and Mayoral candidates are? No problem. Need some more information about them before you fill out your ballots? We’ve got you covered.
Listen, a lot is at stake, and local elections aren’t glamorous, but you should care. They decide everything from how your community develops over the long term — the impact this will have on your city’s transit and transportation, your utilities, and public safety — to leadership development and engagement opportunities for your city’s youth. For me, these issues are important; this is why I vote.
For more information or to RSVP for the happy hour, please email candiDating@getTract….org. Thanks again to People’s Alliance Fund for co-sponsoring the event.
It’s like we’re setting up a blind date between you and the candidates. Who will win your affection for a long-term municipal relationship?
In action with Traction,
Quinton
P.S. Don’t live in Durham? Check out your county Board of Elections for more voting info. We’ll keep you posted as more voting guides emerge.
