Sept 24 anti-war demonstration in DC

Progressives from all over are converging in DC on September 24 for a massive anti-war march, rally and peace & justice festival!  This is an important time in the movement to stop the war in Iraq.  Bush’s approval ratings are plummeting, and even Senators are starting to speak out about ending this war!  The tide is turning and being visible is key.

In the grand tradition of Rosa Parks, Hunter S. Thompson and other icons of the last great protest era... Traction takes its show on the road:

a BUS full of Tractivists will leave early Saturday morning, returning late that night.

Details are being worked out; here’s the tentative plan:

Drive to DC – possibly stopping to freeway blog on the way

11:30:       Anti-war rally begins

12:30:       March steps off through DC

Peace & Justice fair on Washington Monument grounds, including

                  Drive back to NC

Four weeks to go:

8/27 Hootenanny!

Randall’s fired up about the DC trip, and he’s invited all fellow Tractivists to his hootenanny on Saturday night 8/27!

Here’s a snip from his neighborly invite:

Mars is looming low, autumn is almost here, so it's time for a hootenanny!

C'mon out to my lil' ol log cabin this Saturday nite for an old fashioned hoedown. There'll be skinny dippin', a jug band and Stan Brakhage films projected onto the barn. The Chapel Hill-based hip hop duo The Living Dead will be performing at 10 p.m. Traction, the Durham-based activist group, will be setting up guerrilla art work stations to drum up energy and make signage for the Sept. 24 anti-war march in D.C.

For details, sashay on over to our hootenanny page!
